You may have seen the new Times Square New Year's ball on TV, in person, or on Hulu last night. It's a completely new design, replacing the one that was used from 2000 until last year. If you missed it, though, you'll be able to catch it again before the 2010 New Year's bash; it will remain on display throughout the year, according to the Times Square Alliance.

Of course, it will only drop on New Year's, but visitors will be able to see it looming motionless on top of One Times Square until then. It's likely worth taking a look at if you're touring the area: it's coated in more than 32,000 LED lights provided by electronics giant Philips, and is capable of showing off over 16 million colors.
