iPhone 3G "yellowsn0w" unlock available for download
Application lets your iPhone work on any cell network, but there are risks.

A couple weeks ago, a group of people calling themselves the iPhone Dev Team announced that they had become the first to unlock the iPhone 3G. Using their software, owners of the handset would be able to remove the built-in restrictions on which cellular networks it can connect to, so an unlocked iPhone 3G could run on another carrier just as easily as it can on AT&T.
As promised then, the unlock application is finally available today. The instructions at the website warn that there is some chance you could irreperably damage your phone. There are some very vague legal concerns too, so make sure you know what you're getting into if you decide you just have to use that iPhone on another network.

You can still use the 3g feature if you unlock your iPhone, as long as your chosen network supports it.. you might have to pay extra for a bolt on to allow you to access the internet
