Some updated news on Sony's VAIO netbook has come earlier than expected, with a less-than-impressive outlook for the computer. This new information comes from another apparently unintentional leak, as product info for the netbook was partially uploaded to Sony's website. The missing price, battery life, and weight information seem like evidence that this information wasn't ready to go public; sure enough, Sony pulled the page down, but not before some screen captures were made.

The VAIO P, if we're to believe those specs that were available, should run on a 1.33GHz Intel processor, most likely an Atom, and come equipped with Windows Vista. The screen, which we were holding out hope for being something new and impressive, like a display based on OLEDs, looks pretty run-of-the-mill. It should come in a very wide 1600 x 768 resolution and feature an LED backlight. Storage options look like they'll include a 60GB hard drive or a 128GB solid-state model. While this all makes for what seems like a respectable netbook, it's hardly the game-changing experience Sony was hyping it to be. We're just anxious to hear the official announcement, as Sony may still have a few surprises up its sleeves.
