If you've ever tried to save a web page exactly as it appeared, you've probably discovered that it's trickier than it ought to be. A page is made up of a wide variety of files, from simple text to images and even complex code, so when you try to save a copy you'll probably find many items missing, or you'll have to save a whole bunch of files and make sure they're all kept in the right places.

Not anymore — at least, not always. Lifehacker recently featured a simple add-on called PDF Download, available for both Mozilla Firefox (on Mac, Linux, and Windows) and Microsoft Internet Explorer (for Windows only). It'll let you save an Adobe PDF format copy of almost any website in just a couple of clicks. It might not work on every site, though.

It's probably not something you'd use every day, but it could come in handy sometimes. Afraid your favorite site is going to go down forever? Preserve it for future generations this way!

This sounds a lot easier than going to File > Print > PDF on a Mac.
