Sony PSP-4000 and PSP2 rumors denied by Sony

Sony's move away from UMD disks and towards an all-digital distribution model does not mean a new PSP is on the way, according to Sony representative.

In the face of a flurry of rumors about a new PSP on the horizon, Sony Director of Hardware Marketing John Koller told Silicon Alley Insider, that the rumors were completely unfounded. Instead, Koller indicated that the rumors began because of a misinterpretation of Sony's current move encouraging game developers to move away from a UMD disk based distribution model for games and content for the PSP in favor of a digital distribution model where content is downloaded via the PSP Store and stored on removable Memory Stick Pro Duo cards.
