T-Mobile's Shadow II, the company's forthcoming smartphone, finally has a tentative release date, January 28th. The date was provided by anonymous sources and hasn't been confirmed by T-Mobile, so there's still a good degree of uncertainty surrounding the release. The HTC-designed handset runs Windows Mobile 6.1 and features a slide-out twenty-key keyboard — no full-QWERTY on this phone. Like the original Shadow, this model definitely feels like an entry-level smartphone, not only lacking the full keyboard, but being stuck with EDGE for its data reception instead of having 3G support. At least the WiFi support looks solid, handling voice calls with T-Mobile@Home. If that January release date is accurate, expect more information from T-Mobile closer to the Consumer Electronics Show, the second week of January.
