Nokia has released a statement officially putting its N79 and N85 handsets up for sale. We heard about the N85's availability last week, and now Nokia is offering the N79 as well, directly though its stores. Like the N85, the N79 is a 3G candy bar phone featuring a five-megapixel digital camera. While the N79 doesn't have the N85's high-quality OLED display, Nokia provides another way to make your phone stand out with interchangeable colored accent plates. Both models are GSM phones with HSPA and UMTS support; though either should work just fine on T-Mobile's network, they include support for AT&T-only frequencies as well. The pair supports file storage on microSD cards, including a 4GB card bundled with the N79 and an 8GB with the N85. The handsets should support up to 16GB cards, giving you plenty of room for storing a music library, offering up to 24 hours of playback on a charge. Without a carrier tie-in, the phones are quite expensive, purchased directly through Nokia: $539 for the N85 and $439 for the N79. Although both phones are feature-rich and look like solid handsets, at those prices, you're going to have to be a big Nokia fan to pick one up.
