Rumors are circulating that Apple will be introducing a new version of its BYOKMD (Bring Your Own Keyboard, Mouse, and Display) computer, the Apple Mac mini, at the Macworld San Francisco 2009 event. This rumor makes sense; as normal Apple design cycles go, the Mac mini is overdue for an overhaul and Apple has mentioned that a new model would be coming eventually. This latest rumor comes courtesy of a tipster who contacted Wired and told them a new Mac mini would arrive at Macworld 2009, but refrained from adding any other details. Wired believes it will arrive in two models, an entry level $500 model and a more expensive model, both with a new aluminum-unibody design like can be found on the new MacBooks.

For Obsessable's part, we expect the arrival of a redesigned 17-inch MacBook Pro at MacWorld, a new Mac Pro, a slew of software announcements including highlights from the forthcoming update to OS X, OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, but given that the Mac mini is one of Apple's top-selling models, we doubt much will change about the device's form factor or design. Given the current state of the economy and recent reports of Apple's sales beginning to suffer like everyone else's, Apple will most likely keep the current Mac mini design much like they did with the popular entry level MacBook, perhaps improve some of the internals, and cut the cost of the device slightly.
