Mozilla Firefox is the second most popular web browser on personal computers behind Microsoft's Internet Explorer, but it's barely made a showing on mobile devices. The mobile version of Firefox, which is cutely dubbed Fennec, actually already works on Windows Mobile and Linux-based phones, but there aren't that many of those compared to phones running the most popular smartphone operating system — Symbian.
A Mozilla developer named Christian Sejersen revealed on his blog that some smart folks are starting work on a Symbian version of Fennec to run through much of 2009. No exact release date was given, but it looks like you'll be able to use some version of the browser on your Symbian phone by the end of next year.
