Fujitsu has announced its LOOX R notebook, a model that looks ideal for users traveling frequently, with its twelve-hour battery and sub-three-pound weight. The LOOX features a 12.1-inch screen and is powered by a low-voltage Core 2 Duo chip, clocked at 1.2GHz. While this is much slower than you'd normally find on a notebook, the combined low voltage and low clock speed help contribute to the system's impressive battery life.

The notebook is available in two configurations: a 128GB solid-state drive C70 model and a 320GB hard disk C50 model. The C70 squeezes every drop out of its battery life with its low-power SSD, while the C50 will run out of power half an hour sooner. The big difference between the two configurations is in how they affect the system's price, which is already quite steep to begin with; the C70 will cost around $3,000, while the C50 cuts that down to $2,500. There's definitely a price premium on the super-long battery life the notebook offers, but for business travelers who can't be sure they'll be able to find a place to charge while mid-trip, Fujitsu's machine may be worth the expense.
