Sony may be planning to introduce a touchscreen, WiFi-enabled addition to its Walkman line of media players at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show, according to anonymous sources. From what the rumors have been able to tell us about the potential device, it looks like it will have some very nice specs. The screen should be based on OLED technology for high contrast with excellent color reproduction, and have a WQVGA resolution. WiFi support won't be limited to transferring files, as the player is supposed to feature a full web browser, letting you do online searches for information on artists and songs you're listening to. There should even be YouTube support, wirelessly streaming videos to the screen, and the ability to schedule auto-downloads of podcasts. Audio and video support look solid, with all the major formats supported. If all this information pans out, the new Walkman model should be quite the capable media player. Be on the lookout for Sony announcing the 16GB and 32GB models next month.
