Pantech is set to release its C630 entry-level candybar phone on AT&T's network. The main reason for you to be interested in this model is its price: a 3G phone for $40 after rebate and service agreement. The phone's features are nothing to write home about, but what you'd pretty much expect from an entry-level model: there's a 1.3-megapixel camera, GPS receiver, and media playback functions. The media player supports most of the major formats, like MP3, AAC, and WMA audio as well as MPEG-4 and H.264 video. If you plan on using the C630 heavily for media playback, you're going to want to pick up a microSD card for expanding the phone's storage, which tops out at 64MB. If you have a Bluetooth headset, the C630 supports A2DP for listening to your music in full stereo. While the handset has GPS hardware, if you really want to make use of it with route planning and turn-by-turn directions, you'll have to pony up extra for AT&T's Navigator service, which has a recurring monthly fee. If you're interested in cheaply adding another to your plan, or just looking to replace an older entry-level model, the C630 will be available through AT&T starting tomorrow.
