Although Asus started the netbook revolution with the popularity of its original Asus Eee PC, in Q3 2008, Acer overtook Asus, replacing the company as the top seller of netbooks thanks to sales of its Acer Aspire One. HP, MSI, and Dell fill out the distant third, fourth, and fifth places, respectively, in netbook sales according to a report by research firm DisplaySearch.
