Sony Ericsson Walkman Xmini looks more media-player than phone

Sony Ericsson has designed a new addition to its Walkman line, the CDMA Xmini slider. The tiny phone has an only-1.8-inch display and capacitive touch controls for music playback on its exterior; you probably wouldn't even recognize it as a phone when closed up. Slid open, a petite numeric keypad reveals the Xmini's full purpose. The phone holds only 4GB of music, which seems a little low for a media-focused device, and it doesn't look like Sony Ericsson has designed the model with expandable storage in mind.

The compact Xmini weighs just 2.6 oz. and measures only 3 x 1.7 x 0.7 inches when closed. A full charge will give you about three and a half hours of talk time or a full day of music playback. The Xmini looks like it could be useful as a media player that just happens to also be a phone, though it might just be too small and feature-light to replace your existing handset altogether. The phone is currently destined for a Japanese market, with no word yet on an American carrier picking it up.
