U.K. retailers like Currys are stocking up on portable CD players like the Sony Discman to meet an increase in demand -- about 50% -- over last year. With record labels like Atlantic Records seeing sales of CDs gradually eclipsed by revenues from online music sales, you might have thought that it's only downhill from here for the 26-year old medium, but apparently the slowing economy is keeping some folks from moving on. According to the Telegraph, this may be because those folks are still not comfortable with the internet, or may not even have access to it at all, but the relative cheapness of CD players is a critical factor.
