Google is now offering the T-Mobile G1 unlocked and sans T-Mobile as the Android Dev Phone 1 and they're making the device available to all Android Marketplace developers for $399 with free shipping to the U.S.

If you want to get your hands on this unlocked version of the HTC-manufactured G1 and you're not a developer, all you have to do is spend $25 to sign up as a developer on the Google Android Marketplace. Signing up takes about 5 minutes and involves little more than putting in your credit card number, your name, and your address and clicking through a few agreements.  Although the quantity field underneath the price has a drop down menu, the only available option is one, so don't get any fancy ideas of opening up your own unlocked G1 resale shop; however, if you were wondering what it would be like to own a G1 and run it on an AT&T or other SIM-card, it'll only cost you $424 total. The device even comes with a custom graphic on the back.

Of course, if you're in no hurry to get an unlocked Google Android-based phone, you'd like to save some money, and it doesn't have to be a rebranded T-Mobile G1, then remember you can always pre-order a Kogan Agora or Agora Pro for well over a $100 less and without have to sign up as a developer. Of course, the Agoras don't ship until the end of January, and they're coming from Australia, while the Android Dev Phone 1 would appear to be available immediately.

UPDATE: There's an interesting Slashdot comment that notes that if you're not in the U.S. and ordering an Android Dev Phone 1, you'll be paying an exorbitantly large shipping fee.
