File this news solidly under rumor, but Boy Genius Report has received a tip that in addition to the iPhone 3G coming to Wal-mart, there will be a new 4GB model Apple iPhone 3G available for $99 with a 2-year AT&T contract via Wal-mart.

We here at Obsessable are highly suspicious of Apple offering a 4GB iPhone 3G, as the original iPhone launched in both 4GB and 8GB models, and Apple stopped making the 4GB models shortly after launch, issuing a statement that 4GBs just wasn't really enough space to fully enjoy the product. Also, Apple doesn't tend to downgrade products, even if they have been known to go back on what they've said in the past.
