If you (or your mother, daughter, or significant other) are looking for something both useful and beautiful, computer maker HP is gunning for your charge card. Buyers of a new HP Mini 1000 netbook now have the option to spend an extra $200 to include a 3G network card that enables web surfing over the same WWAN networks used by many cellphones; access fees will apply, of course.

The new tech isn't all that's fancy. HP has also finally released a previously announced variation designed by esteemed Chinese-American fashionista Vivienne Tam. It's decorated with "vibrant peony blooms signifying good fortune and prosperity" and comes with a matching silk sleeve. This cute laptop starts at $700 (and that's without adding the 3G option), while the regular Mini 100 starts at only $400. Lesson learned: if you want to surf anywhere and class it up, you'd better be willing to make an investment.
