A new article from Fortune magazine reports that according to David Gibson, an analyst at Macquarie Securities, Nintendo makes $6 per each Nintendo Wii sold. If that doesn't sound like much to you, consider that both the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360 fail to earn profit from their gaming consoles with the 360 breaking even and the PS3 losing money. However, Nintendo is potentially losing out on profits from their games as 60% of their top selling games are made by Nintendo and therefore don't earn licensing fees. That doesn't change the fact that the Wii is the top selling gaming console and has more games sold per year than either the Xbox 360 or the PS3.
