Influential Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu published first-month sales figures for the DSi, Nintendo's new handheld gaming device, and the numbers are impressive: 535,379 units have been sold since the November 1st launch date, bringing total DS family sales up to 24.2 million. The DSi is an update to the DS and subsequent DS Lite, adding a larger screen and two cameras (one of which is three megapixels), expanding its touchscreen functionality to both screens, and reducing the size, albeit at the cost of the previous models' Game Boy cartridge slot. Presently the DSi is only available in Japan, but it will reach European consumers in spring next year, and Americans in the summer.
