Nikon DSLR sales have grown by 333% making Nikon "number one for share by volume in the UK, Europe, USA and Japan" in the DSLR market. The news was announced at the official UK launch of the Nikon D3x by Chris Hoare, Nikon's professional business manager.

The growth has been attributed to an aggressive four year push by Nikon to move ahead in the DSLR market. The push would appear to be a success as projected Nikon DSLR sales for 2008 are up from 2 million in 2004 to 3.3 million. Nikon also overtakes Canon with this move, as Canon's marketshare was 41% to Nikon's 40% last year.
