Dell Design Studio opens, offering custom case art for Studio laptops

Dell introduced the Studio 15 and Studio 17 laptops earlier this year, creating a product line that falls somewhere inbetween its for-general-home-use Inspiron laptops and its powerful-but-expensive XPS gaming machines. Driving the point home that Studio computers are boutique products, Dell has launched the Design Studio, an online interface with which customers can customize paint jobs for new Studio laptops based on pre-existing artistic designs. The options are varied and colorful, and they include several entries from (PRODUCT) RED, a charity program. For each customer who buys a laptop with a (PRODUCT) RED design, Dell donates $20 to an AIDS relief fund. Customizing a machine with the Design Studio adds $75 to the sale price.
