Sony VAIO netbook speculation incited by FCC filing

Though netbooks are all the rage right now that the Asus Eee PC 901 and Dell Inspiron Mini 9 are flying off the e-shelves, not every manufacturer has been eager to get into the slow-but-tiny laptop game. Sony has been among the holdouts, but a machine that could be the company's first netbook was registered with the Federal Communications Commission. The model number begins with PCG — the prefix for Sony's VAIO line of laptops — and the measurements come in at a potently portable 9.5 x 4.5 inches. Support for internet over cellular signals or WiMAX via the WWAN protocol is part of the plan along with all the other networking staples. If you're looking to make a lifestyle statement by purchasing a netbook, this might be one to watch for, but with no specs or pricing yet available, it's hard to say.
