Motorola RAZR3 / Ruby development stopped

Motorola's RAZR3, aka the Ruby, the upcoming model in the ground-breaking line of slim flip phones, has apparently been canceled. The original RAZR design, though now several generations removed from the first model, is still a hot seller, only recently being dethroned by Apple as king of mobile sales. The RAZR3 had been in development as a Symbian UIQ-based phone, which looks like the reason for Motorola backing away from it. An announcement of employee restructuring back in September suggested Motorola was repositioning itself for Android development, shying away from Symbian products. The RAZR3 was to be slightly more compact than the RAZR2 and feature a five-megapixel camera, 3G connectivity, and WiFi support. There's no official word from Motorola on the project's demise, nor if it plans to reconsider a new RAZR design, adapted for the Android platform.
