We know you're in sync with the times — you know Netflix, iTunes, and Hulu are the popular places to be for video content you can take with you wherever you go. But Blockbuster has spent the past several months trying to win back customers who have defected to digital alternatives — an iteration of the classic motif of a former vanguard finding it difficult to keep up with the rapidly changing times. It introduced a movie download service and 2wire's streaming video set-top box, but those were only the beginning of the company's high-tech plans. A rep revealed that streaming video will make an appearance on Blu-ray devices, and the CIO told the Dallas Morning News that the company will use Microsoft's Live Mesh platform to (among other things) make it possible to download rentals to portable media devices from a variety of sources, including airport kiosks. Live Mesh is a system that syncs devices over the internet, but it hasn't seen much use until now.
