BenQ has released its first netbook, the Joybook Lite U101 (no relation to MSI's Wind Uxxx series), featuring a 10.1-inch LED-backlit 16:9 widescreen display. The Atom-based computer ships with 1GB of DDR2 memory and a choice of drive options ranging from 80-160GB hard drives or 4-16GB solid-state drives. There's no touchscreen or big feature to differentiate the U101 from all the other netbooks out there, but at least there should be an option for 3G data service for high-speed wireless on-the-go. XP and Linux OS choices are available, as well as cases in blue, black, white, and pink. The netbook is available now in Taiwan for around $500, which seems like a solid price-point, considering the similarities to the MSI Wind U120 with its $550 tag.
