Right on schedule, ASUS's latest Eee PC netbook, the 2.6-pound 1002HA, is now available. The laptop follows the netbook checklist to a T: 1.6GHz Atom processor, 1GB RAM, and choice of XP or Linux operating systems. The screen measures in at 10.1 inches, though ASUS seems to have overlooked providing the exact resolution. ASUS ships the system with a 1.2-megapixel webcam, WiFi connectivity, and a 160GB hard drive. The company offers a free limited-time online backup solution, the use of which along with the 1002HA's hard drive it refers to as a "hybrid storage" solution. If you pick up a 1002HA and enjoy the security of an off-site backup, you're not necessarily forced to continue with ASUS's option, as there are several companies offering similar solutions. With a 4200mAh battery, ASUS rates the model's operating time, running XP, at around five hours.
