TiVo has launched a new scheduling website, TiVo Mobile, allowing users of the DVR devices to remotely schedule recordings from their cellular phones. The site at m.tivo.com is accessible from any web browser, but caters to users of mobile devices with the site's spartan layout, for speedy page loads and easy rendering on low-end phone browsers. The page, which doesn't require a TiVo account to access, lets you search for future programming, offers a daily list of suggested shows, and displays the most popular scheduled series. Registered users with Series 2 or Series 3 DVRs connected to the internet can remotely set up recordings once they log in. For non-TiVo users, the site is still a quick way to check TV schedules from your mobile phone. Although remote TiVo scheduling has been available for some time on Verizon phones, the wireless provider charges users two dollars a month for the service, whereas TiVo Mobile is a free site, only incurring standard cell data rate charges.
