Rather than releasing big, game-changing console updates like Microsoft, Sony continues to roll out incremental upgrades to its PS3 firmware, with the 2.53 release expected for tomorrow. A future-dated post regarding the upgrade was put up on Sony's PlayStation website, perhaps accidentally, as it now appears to have been taken down. The primary purpose of the update seems to be adding full-screen support for Adobe Flash files, useful for watching screen-filling video content. The upgrade also integrates Flash 9 into the PS3's web browser. It's not clear if Sony has decided to delay the software's release, or simply wanted to avoid looking like it jumped the gun in posting about the update a day early. If the latter is the case, the software should be available on the 26th.

UPDATE: The PS3 firmware 2.53 update arrived later than expected on December 2, 2008.
