Raon Digital has released its Everun Note, an ultra-compact netbook with dual-core processor and touchscreen. Instead of the typical Atom chip, the Note uses a dual-core AMD Turion 64 X2 processor at 1.2GHz. Although running at a slower clock than the 1.6GHz Atoms often found in netbooks, the dual cores should deliver a speed boost. While the Note has a small 7-inch screen, its 1024 x 600 resolution has a higher pixel density than other netbooks with similarly-sized displays. The screen features a touchscreen input, though unfortunately the Note doesn't support rotating the screen around for a tablet mode. Pointer control is also available via a finger-tracking optical mouse, similar to those used on mobile phones. The Note is available with either a 60GB hard disk or 16GB or 24GB solid-state drives, and a choice of Ubuntu or Windows XP operating systems, starting at $660.
