Acer is now offering a new pair of 1080p LCD screens, the 21.5-inch H223HQbmid and 24-inch H243Hbmid. The 1920 x 1080 screens share a brightness rating of 300 candelas per square meter, but while the H223 measures in with a 20,000:1 contrast ratio, the H243 rates 40,000:1. Those contrast numbers sound way too high for straight LCD screens, so it's likely Acer is taking the effect of a dynamic backlight into account. The monitors both feature HDMI inputs for viewing of protected content and reproduce color reaching 72% of NTSC gamut. The monitors are available now in Japan, costing $310 and $410.
