England-based Medical Phone Ltd. has shown off its latest 3G handset, the multi-folding $1000 iCEphone. Standing for "in case of emergency" phone, the model features life-saving options like one-touch access to emergency dispatch, your doctor, and the closest hospital. The phone's iCE Aid software delivers emergency medical advice on techniques such as CPR until help arrives. That in and of itself would make for a useful handset, but Medical Phone has also built the device with an innovative three-way unfolding construction. Similar to clamshell folders, the iCEphone adds another unfolding layer, ultimately displaying the screen, a full QWERTY thumbboard with pointer control, and a control panel with additional keyboard inputs. The Windows Mobile 6.0 device supports quad-band GSM, HSDPA 3G, and features a 3-inch, 240 x 400 screen. The iCEphone will first be appearing in Thailand, with a European release rolling out next year.

Interesting product, but surely the selling point is the software... why not package that and sell on?
