John Hubbard, Apple's Director of Unix Technologies, recently unintentionally leaked a Q1 2009 release date for Apple's next operating system update, Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. During a slideshow presentation at LISA '08 (direct link to PDF file of presentation), Hubbard revealed one slide that noted a list of OS X release dates, includingOS X 10.6 next to a release date of Q1 2009. Although Apple has not officially announced a release date, a Q1 2009 appearance of the next operating system would make sense, as Snow Leopard was announced as arriving "in about a year" in June at Apple's WWDC event. Snow Leopard will most likely be featured in January 2009's MacWorld keynote at which time Apple will probably reveal an more specific arrival date for this upgrade to their operating system.
