Hitachi has introduced a pair of LCD projectors, due out in Japan in December. The $8,500 CP-X809J only has a 1024 x 768 resolution, too low for HDTV, but features a high-brightness 5,000 lumen light source for use in bright, daytime conditions. While the $3,800 CP-WX410J model lowers its output to only 3,000 lumens, the 1280 x 800 resolution will easily support up to 720p content. Both models feature HDMI input for quick connections and viewing protected content. The CP-X809J uses a highly configurable lens system, with horizontal and vertical-shifting elements and focal options to accommodate different screen setups. The device includes a sixteen watt speaker system with SRS WOW acoustic technology to simulate surround-sound and visual filters for auto-correcting source input to supposedly optimize the display.
