As was expected earlier this week, AMD has officially announced a new netbook-sized CPU, the Conesus, alongside a new CPU for ultraportables, the Caspian. Both chips are 45-nm dual-cores with integrated DDR-2 controllers. Interestingly, AMD Senior VP Randy Allen said that the chips were not designed specifically for netbooks and that they were aimed at consumers who did not want a “compromised PC experience.” The chips should arrive in 2009.
