More details have surfaced over AMD's expected netbook processor announcement at tomorrow's analyst conference, including possibly announcing its Bobcat low-power CPU. The company previously announced that this Q4 conference would involve its response to Intel's Atom processors, widely used in netbook designs. The rumored Bobcat chip is supposed to feature a 64-bit 1GHz core and consume eight watts of power. Although this would be above the Atom's usage, the Bobcat may feature an on-chip memory controller, reducing power consumption elsewhere in a system built around it. It's also possible AMD may make announcements regarding its "Ultra-Value Client", a series of dual-core chips running around 1.6GHz, based on Athlon designs. With higher power requirements, the UVCs may be intended for nettop designs instead of portable devices. We'll be updating you as the news hits tomorrow.
