Silicon Mountain announced its all-in-one Allio LCD HDTV with integrated home theater PC, available with screens up to 42 inches. The PCs are based on Intel Core 2 Duo chips and feature up to 4GB of memory. With an ATSC tuner and up to 1TB hard disk options, the Allio is ready to go as a fully-digital DVR system. The addition of a Blu-ray drive gives the PC even more high definition content options. Although the idea of an all-in-one screen is a great idea, bloggers are voicing some concerns over the set's unknowns. The LCD screen is only rated at a 2,000:1 contrast ratio, which is a bit lower than other LCD screens on the market, and Silicon Mountain doesn't reveal its refresh rate, which could be a make-or-break detail. There's also no word on how thick or heavy the Allio is, raising the question of if wall-mounting is an option. Is an all-in-one system appealing to you? Would you prefer a high-performance HDTV hooked up to an external HTPC, or is integration a big plus? Let us know what you think below.
