iPhone knocks RAZR from sales top-spot

Apple iPhone sales for the third quarter of 2008 finally surpassed those of Motorola's RAZR, which had held the first spot in sales for the past three years. The figures, compiled by The NPD Group, show overall phone sales down by fifteen percent from the same period last year. So, while Apple picks up a larger share of the market, the market itself isn't growing as fast as it did when Motorola was on top. Other top-selling phones included high-end messaging and smartphones, such as the number-three-ranked BlackBerry Curve.

Motorola's RAZR was an eye-catching, unique phone when it first hit the market, but within a short period of time, everyone seemed to have one and it lost a bit of its sparkle. For you iPhone fans out there: does knowing Apple's device is more popular than ever make it feel less "special", or does the constantly-growing list of apps and features keep you fascinated with it? Let us know down in the comments.

I guess this means that people have spent enough years practice of managing to keep their iPods intact. Now, they are ready to handle the delicacy of the iPhone. Thanks to the miracle of silicone covers, my hubby has managed to keep his iPhone mostly blemish free for 6 months now. He is normally not the dainty one when it comes to electronic devices. I'm more careful, but I'm not quite comfortable enough to have confidence buying and preserving an iPhone... or a RAZR for that matter. It's like having those flashing images of the iPhone being dropped like a baby on his head. Eh~h~h~h. Makes me cringe. If Panasonic or somebody got ahold of the idea and made a ruggedized iPhone, that would be sweet.
