Sony PS3 firmware 2.5.2 update arrives
New firmware update for the Sony PlayStation 3 offers minor fixes; no major added features.
Sony has released firmware update version 2.5.2 for the PlayStation 3 video game console.
According to the official PlayStation blog the 2.5.2 update doesn't do too much besides improving the playback quality of some PS3 format software and fixing a text entry issue that occurred when using the on-screen keyboard, USB keyboard or Bluetooth keyboard with some PS3 format software.

What happened to the so called HOME that was supposedto be with 2.52 yet another set back, not to worry we have only been waiting over a year anyway another year wont hurt

Home won't be released until update 3.0. It is considered a major update, not something minor with a .5.2 extension.

Turn the device by holding the Power sensor until it beeps twice (the first beep when you touch it, the second beep after 5 sec). It resets to the default resolution. If you still don't see anything, use the supplied SCART cable / adapter to setup the HDMI video output.
It worked fine for me. If it still doesn't help, then ouch... :-(

I am having the same problem. I installed the update, now I have a black screen. I can see that the monitor is getting power and connectivity from the PS3, but the PS3 is not booting through.

This has happened to me before when I've updated and been connected via HDMI. Try connecting with another cable for first turning it on post the update and then switch cables back and see if that fixes it.

Yep 2.52 has bricked my Blu Ray drive. Worked well BEFORE the patch.
Now the drive will not recognize any discs. And all I get is the little loading circle in the top right hand corner of the screen. My ps3 is the 60GB 1.5 Years old and no problems till this update.

When i updated to 2.52 I could access everything expect I couldnt play any blue ray. Every time I try to play a blue ray movie or any PS3 game it would just show black screen or just tell me its curropted.

Everything was fine on my PS3 after the update, but when I tried to boot into Yellow Dog Linux the display went black. Had to reset (hold down power) and now I can't get HDMI to set back up . It detects HDMI device at boot when connected SCART but when I tell it yes to output the output is blank. I've tried every combination of resetting the PS3 and attempting to set up the display but all I see is a black screen. It worked before the update but now nothing. Others are complaining about this too. WTF Sony.

I'm in the same boat. I've tried multiple reset options, and my HDMI output still doesn't work. This is rather frustrating.

The HDMI stopped working for my ps3 after the update. Sony stated: it is your cable ... not sure how a firmware update can break my cable. I switched cables (took the one from y xbox) ... still no go. Sony stated: just because the cable works with all of your other hardware, does not mean that it will work with the ps3. O...K....
question now, how do you revert to a previous firmware?

I have had the same problem after download it will not read any disks never had a problem before. Sony said I have to pay to get it fixed $149. I declined. At 1st they said this was the 1st time they had herd of this problem but after talking to a supervisor (Becky) she said that she had had a few calls but still could not help. Anyone had any luck fixing the problem on there own or found a way to get Sony to help? This might be a good class action law suit.

I´ve just bought and use about one week my PS3.
I am having troubles with initializing the system. It entered in a specific routine that go forward from 0% up to 99% but do not develop to 100% finishing the process.
I am not having any kind of answer to my son and he really wants to play PS3.
We already have formated the HD and did all routine from the atart.
Anny comment to help ?
