If you're a Netflix subscriber and you've been waiting to get their new "Watch Instantly" feature on your Mac or PC, the official Netflix blog has details on how you can opt-in to the new Silverlight-based player and turn the feature on for your account. Before you go running off to opt-in, you should know two important things: 1. Opting in means that you can no longer use the Windows Media Player to watch Netflix videos. 2. The current selection of movies available through the new Silverlight-based player is limited and the Netflix blog warns that you "may notice errors or lower than normal quality when watching certain titles."

I was so happy when I discovered this over the weekend. Sure I was able to watch on my PC, but I use my MacBook Pro for almost everything. I use it for a simple means to watch videos on my tv. Now, I have a plethora of movies and tv shows available to watch on my tv via my notebook laptop. Now, I can finally watch Dexter without having to subscribe to the premier satellite packages.

Also worth mentioning that it only works on Intel Macs. So if, like me, you were hoping to fire it up on your old PowerPC G5... you'd be SoL. ;)
