Alienware has unveiled its M17, a heavyweight laptop with powerful graphics chipset. The 17-inch model runs a pair of ATI GPUs with CrossFire X technology to get them working together, drawing from 1GB of video memory and compatible with DirectX 10.1. CPU options include a quad-core Intel chip, a laptop-first, according to the manufacturer. If you're not looking for a gaming system, the M17 does double-duty as a multimedia powerhouse, though many of its video features are optional package add-ons. You can configure the system with a WUXGA 1920 x 1200 display, Blu-ray drive, and ATSC tuner for lots of high-definition content choices. This is a nice change from the previous M17X model, which lacked a Blu-ray option and came in a pound heavier, though the M17 is still a hefty 9.5 pounds.
