If you've been counting the days until Nintendo of America drops the DSi, the new addition to the DS line, coming out in Japan in November, the company's got good news for you. While NoA earlier said that it wouldn't be bringing the DSi here until "well into 2009", hinting at a fall release, the company's issued a new statement pushing the US release up into the summer. Nintendo initially called the DSi a new platform that wouldn't directly compete with the DS Lite, and cited strong Lite sales as reason to delay the DSi's release. Whether this new timetable means that the DSi is stepping up to essentially replace the DS Lite or not remains to be seen.
