According to the Wall Street Journal, Hewlett-Packard is in discussion with various U.S. wireless service providers, such as AT&T and Verizon Wireless, to possibly offer the new HP Mini 1000 at a discount with a 2-year wireless data subscription. This would be similar to the way cellphones are available at a lower cost with contract than without. While subsidized laptops with wireless data plans have not been widespread in the U.S. as of yet, several providers overseas offer such plans with success.
