Timed to coincide with the new 360 user interface, premiering in November, Microsoft is releasing an upgrade kit designed to boost system storage and get users online. For $99 you can pick up the 60GB Xbox Live Starter Pack which includes a headset, prepaid three-month Xbox Live card, Ethernet cable, and, of course, a 60GB hard drive. Microsoft got itself into a bit of pickle over the size of the upcoming dash update, as it's too large to fit on the internal storage of early Core-model systems bundles. The company's offering cheap refurbished 20GB drives to affected buyers, but it looks like it's pushing customers to stock up on more storage now. In addition to the space requirements of the upgrade alone, the new software will support caching games to disk to speed up load times, requiring even greater drive capacities if you decide to use that option.
