Intel and ASUS have teamed to set up WePC.com, a collaborative web site encouraging users to submit design specs for what they'd like to see in a laptop. You can log on and contribute to the effort by picking your dream feature set, setting balances between extremes like a giant screen and long battery life, and sketching a mock-up of what you think your laptop should look like. Participants can vote on each other's designs, with as-of-yet unspecified prizes going to users who take notable creative roles. Though Intel and ASUS most likely won't build most of these extravagant machines (e.g. Iron Man-style artificial intelligence, integrated projector, and three webcams), the companies are hoping to use the opportunity to produce several models inspired by users' suggestions.
