Hackers unlock T-Mobile G1 for alternate carriers

An enterprising group of phone hackers have broken the G1's provider-lock, enabling the Android phone to work on AT&T's network in addition to T-Mobile's. The group charges $23 for the unlock codes, which seems a bit steep, considering T-Mobile will voluntarily unlock your phone if you keep your account in good standing for 90 days. If you simply cannot wait that long to move to AT&T, or are heading to Europe shortly and want to take advantage of cheap pre-paid SIM cards while you're there, the unlock service is available now for you.
