Oprah Winfrey loves books. Her book club is probably one of the largest book clubs of all time and authors everywhere hope and pray that their books get selected for the Oprah Winfrey Book Club, because it generally means sales of the book are about to shoot through the roof. This past week, Oprah announced that her favorite gadget was the Amazon Kindle electronic-paper-based book reader via which you can browse Amazon's book selection, purchase books, and download the books directly to the Kindle for on-the-go reading. You can do this wirelessly from anywhere thanks to Sprint's WhisperNet wireless service. Oprah, being the book lover that she is, loves this.

So if you've been holding out for an Amazon Kindle, Oprah is now behind the device and it will most likely see record sales thanks to her endorsement. Better yet, you can get the device for $50 cheaper than normal through November 1st by applying the coupon code OPRAHWINFREY at checkout.

However, Obsessable must caution you that you may just want to wait a little longer. An Oprah endorsement coming right before the holidays and not that far after possible leaked shots emerged online of what may be the Kindle 2 have some of us thinking that this may be a coordinated move by Amazon. Teaming up with Oprah to help clear out the back inventory of first generation Kindles could serve to pave the way for the second generation of the Amazon device to be released in early 2009.
