Dell announced the Dell Inspiron Mini 12 yesterday as a new netbook with a 12-inch screen with configurations starting under $600. A quick look over the conversations below will tell you that most people don't consider a 12-inch laptop to really fit into the netbook area, since netbooks are traditionally smaller and in the 10-inch range. This computer looks more like the similarly sized MacBook Air, but runs Windows Vista Home Basic (Ubuntu and Windows XP versions are expected later) instead of OS X and costs less than half the price of the Air. Although the size isn't quite in the netbook arena, the price and specifications are, so avoid this one if you're looking for a primary computer replacement. However, the Dell Inspiron Mini 12 may be a good laptop to consider if you're looking for a light on-the-go secondary computer.
