Sony has released firmware 5.0.1 for the Sony PSP. This update fixes a problem introduced by version 5.0 firmware that would misreport 8GB and 16GB Memory Stick cards as being out of space when trying to download content via the PlayStation Store.

To install the update, connect your PSP to it's AC adapter, then on the home screen navigate to Settings, scroll down to Network Update and click the X button. Select your wireless connection and click X, wait for the connection to activate and then once the PSP tells you an update is available, click X to proceed downloading the firmware . After it finishes downloading, choose install now and follow the on-screen instructions. If your battery level is too low, you may have to charge it before the PSP will allow you to continue installation.
