Just getting up to speed with LCD, DLP and Plasma? Get ready for OLED, likely to be the next widely adopted HDTV technology for consumer TVs. Major manufacturers LG and Samsung both recently showed off new OLED prototype sets at a display industry trade show in South Korea. LG had a 19-inch unit on display while Samsung brought out several models including a 31-inch OLED HDTV, a 14-inch panel and a small 5-inch WVGA panel. LG has made a specific commitment to start rolling out OLED sets by 2011, with most other major manufacturers promising to produce OLED TVs sometime within the next few years.
